Should We Rush to Regulate New Technology?

We definitely need to understand all the risks and implications involving new ideas such as Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). However, to rush to regulate new ideas is a resounding no as it could hinder the progress and growth of society.

In a civilized society, or any civilization for that matter, fear doesn’t help us to grow, but our quest for new knowledge regardless of how preposterous, ridiculous and outrageous it might seemed at first. Remember the introduction of the first airplane by the Wright brothers and why most newspaper reporters didn’t even show up to report “one of the greatest inventions of multiple generations” simply because it was deemed absurd, hilarious, risible, farcical, silly, ludicrous and derisible. These days, fortunately for us, we can’t fly without it!

As intelligent species, our growth and survival depend on new ways of thinking and taking calculated risks - even if sometimes the predictability factor is off the charts!
